Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu

Yuanshi and Tongtian both took shape from Pangu’s primordial spirit, lived together on Kunlun in their early years, and went with Taiqing into Zixiao Palace to hear the Dao. Having founded the Chan and Jie Sects they moved to Yuxu Palace and the Biyou Palace.

Once the Investiture List had been settled, the Chan disciples escorted Western Zhou east while Wen Zhong, Zhao Gongming, the Three Xiao and other Jie disciples came down to help Shang, and the two houses met again and again in the Ten Absolutes and the Nine-Bend Yellow River Formation. Learning how his disciples had been killed, Tongtian carried the four Zhuxian swords to Jiepai Pass and set out his formation; Yuanshi went in first to look, and then he, Taiqing, Jieyin and Zhunti each broke one gate.

In the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation the two met again with their treasures in hand, and after Tongtian withdrew he meant to refine earth, water, fire and wind afresh. Hongjun appeared outside the formation, took the Three Pure Ones back to Zixiao Palace, gave each a pill, and ordered them to lay down arms.
