Jinzha and Muzha

Jinzha and Muzha were the eldest and second sons of Li Jing of Chentang Pass, and left home while young, one for the Yunxiao Cave on Mount Wulong and one for the White Crane Cave on Mount Jiugong. Jinzha learned the Dragon-Binding Stake from Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun and Muzha the Wugou twin swords from Puxian Zhenren, and for years the brothers did not live together at Chentang Pass.

When the Investiture war began, both came at their masters’ orders to Western Qi, met again in Jiang Ziya’s tent and were joined there by their brother Nezha. On the eastern campaign, Jinzha mostly bound men with the stake and Muzha fought close with the twin swords, and the brothers usually held the left and right of the centre or guarded the camp gate with their father Li Jing.

Having passed the five passes they entered Chaoge with Nezha, and when the Shang–Zhou war ended each left the army with his own master. When Muzha next appears, in the Journey story, he attends Guanyin as the acolyte Moksa, while Jinzha remains in other immortal and buddhist genealogies.
