Yuanshi Tianzun and Randeng Daoren

Randeng Daoren often heard Yuanshi Tianzun expound the dharma at Yuxu Palace, and when the Twelve Golden Immortals came down he was ordered to direct the breaking of the formations at Western Qi. Once the Ten Absolutes were raised, Randeng first sent lesser adepts to test them and then assigned Guangchengzi, Chijingzi and the other Chan immortals according to the method each formation used.

When Zhao Gongming beat immortal after immortal with the Sea-Stilling Pearls, Randeng met him himself with the Qiankun Ruler and was driven back by the pearls all the same; only after Luya had shot Zhao Gongming dead with the Seven-Arrow Book of Nails did he gather up the twenty-four masterless pearls.

When the Zhuxian and Ten Thousand Immortals formations opened, Randeng entered them with Yuanshi and killed Jinling Shengmu with the pearls. The Investiture over, he left the old Chan ranks, and in later Honghuang continuations passed into the Buddhist gate of the west.
