Dijun and Donghuang Taiyi took shape together beside the Fusang tree on the solar star, one holding the Hetu and Luoshu and the other accompanied by the Chaos Bell. The brothers left the sun, gathered the demon peoples scattered through the world, raised palaces in the heavens and settled a demon script; Dijun took the title of Heavenly Emperor and Taiyi that of Eastern Emperor.
Dijun marked out three hundred and sixty-five ruling stars from the Hetu and Luoshu while Taiyi held the central palace and struck the Chaos Bell, so that the star banners in ten thousand demon hands turned with its note and the Zhou-Heaven Star Formation opened across the vault.
In the last Wu–Yao battle the Ancestral Witches broke through the starlight; Dijun was surrounded at the heart of the array by several of them, and Taiyi drove into the mist of blood with the bell to save him. As the star banners snapped one after another Dijun fell first, and Taiyi drove the Chaos Bell into the enemy; when its note stopped, both brothers and the halls of the demon court had been buried in the fighting.
