Deng Chanyu and Jiang Ziya

Deng Chanyu campaigned against Western Qi with her father Deng Jiugong, and in her first engagement threw a five-light stone as she wheeled her horse and wounded one Zhou officer after another. Jiang Ziya sent Nezha, Huang Tianhua and others out in turn, and though they could parry her paired sabres they could seldom avoid the stone that came after she turned.

Once Tu Xingsun had been taken, Jiang Ziya and Juliusun used his wish to marry her to lay a false surrender. Tu Xingsun returned to the Shang camp and brought Deng Jiugong and his daughter out of their old lines, and the gates were shut behind them the moment they entered Western Qi. Deng Chanyu drew her blade to kill Tu Xingsun; Jiang Ziya came out of his tent to stop her, and promised Deng Jiugong the command of his own troops.

Father and daughter took office in the Zhou camp at last, and after her marriage to Tu Xingsun, Deng Chanyu fought east under Jiang Ziya’s banner. When Tu Xingsun was killed at Mianchi she asked leave to avenge him, and never returned to Jiang Ziya’s tent.
