Su Daji and Nüwa

On Nüwa’s feast day, Di Xin came to burn incense at her temple, saw the image behind the curtain and wrote a poem on the wall. Returning, Nüwa saw the lines, called up her banner, and summoned the nine-tailed fox of the tomb of Xuanyuan, the nine-headed pheasant spirit and the jade pipa spirit before her seat.

She ordered the three to hide their demon shapes, take service in the palace, and use the spent mandate of Shang to bring the armies of Zhou east — and told them expressly not to harm the innocent. The nine-tailed fox took Su Daji’s body at the Enzhou post station, and once in the palace killed with the roasting pillar and the snake pit and destroyed Queen Jiang, Bi Gan and others. When the Zhou army closed on Chaoge and the three fled the palace in the dark, Nüwa was already waiting in the cloud.

The demon-binding cord came down and all three showed their true shapes. She handed them to Yang Jian to be taken to the Zhou camp for Jiang Ziya to judge; Daji still bewitched the executioners before the army, until Luya’s Immortal-Slaying Flying Blade appeared and she was put to death below the banner.
