Having taken the Lotus Cave on Mount Pingding, Golden Horn and Silver Horn set Jingxigui and Linglichong to wait for the pilgrims with a portrait. While Sun Wukong was scouting the mountain, Silver Horn took the shape of an old Daoist with a broken leg, coaxed Wukong into carrying him, and then spoke the true words and dropped Sumeru, Emei and Tai upon his back.
Wukong called the mountain gods and earth gods to move them, and once free took the shape of an old Daoist and tricked the purple-gold red gourd out of Jingxigui with a false one. Before the Lotus Cave, Golden Horn and Silver Horn used the seven-star sword, the plantain fan, the suet-jade vase and the golden cord in turn: they had only to call out “Sun Wukong” and take him into a vessel when he answered.
Wukong changed his name, swapped treasures again, and put the two demons into the gourd and the vase in turn. Taishang Laojun appeared on a cloud, took back all five treasures, spoke a spell and released the two boys who tended the gold and silver furnaces, and nothing was left in the Lotus Cave but the scattered weapons of the mountain demons.
