The story of Daoxing Tianzun

Daoxing Tianzun lived in the Yuwu Cave on Mount Jinting, with Weihu, Han Dulong and Xue Ehu under him. While Jiang Ziya was besieged at Western Qi, he had Han Dulong and Xue Ehu carry food into the city, and sent Weihu down to help Zhou.

Weihu came down with the demon-subduing pestle and joined the Zhou camp at Western Qi, campaigning with the army from then on. Daoxing Tianzun stayed in the Yuwu Cave and went to the reed pavilion in person only after the Ten Absolutes were set out.

When the Ten Absolutes opened, Han Dulong was sent first into the Raging Flame Formation and died there as three fires rose together; Xue Ehu then entered the Cold Ice Formation and was crushed between closing blocks of ice. Daoxing Tianzun watched both his disciples die from the reed pavilion.

After losing two disciples one after the other, Daoxing Tianzun sent no more of his people into the formations, and stayed at the pavilion with the Twelve Golden Immortals, waiting for Randeng to assign the remaining ones.

When Zhao Gongming came to Western Qi and struck down Chan immortals with the Sea-Stilling Pearls, Chijingzi and Guangchengzi fell in turn; Daoxing Tianzun took him on with drawn sword, was wounded by the pearls too, and withdrew to the pavilion with Yuding, Lingbao and the others.

When the Three Xiao set out the Nine-Bend Yellow River Formation, Daoxing Tianzun entered with the Twelve Golden Immortals. He was taken by the Hunyuan Golden Dipper and his cave treasures were confiscated, and he woke only when Laozi and Yuanshi broke the formation.

Inside the Zhuxian Formation the four sect-heads pressed Tongtian at its heart. Daoxing Tianzun entered with Guangchengzi, Chijingzi and Yuding Zhenren under talismans, climbed the Juexian gate and took the Juexian sword from it, and the great formation lost its four blades.

Before the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, Yuanshi gave Daoxing Tianzun the Xianxian sword. When the pagoda rose before the eight-trigram terrace, he and the other three raised their swords at once, and sword-light and black vapour covered the Jie disciples inside.

As the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation fell piece by piece, Daoxing Tianzun stayed on the ground with the Chan immortals until Tongtian Jiaozhu gathered his remaining followers and withdrew.

Weihu fought on with the demon-subduing pestle through the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation and the eastern campaign and did not die on the Investiture battlefield. After Shang fell he attained sainthood in the body, and Daoxing Tianzun too was not enfeoffed from the roll.
