The story of Jade Vase and Willow Sprig

When Guanyin travelled east at Rulai’s command she carried the Jade Vase with a willow sprig set in it. When Red Boy held her off with the samadhi fire, she dipped the sprig in the sweet dew, set out her lotus throne, and gave Wukong three life-saving hairs.

When the ginseng-fruit tree of the Wuzhuang Temple had been pushed over, Guanyin came to the rear garden, poured sweet dew from the vase and scattered it over the roots with the willow. The withered branches put out shoots again, and the fruit that had fallen into the earth returned to the tree.
