Deng Chanyu and Nezha

Deng Chanyu challenged the Zhou camp outside Western Qi, and Nezha came out on his wind-fire wheels and drove the fire-tipped spear straight at her face. She caught the spear on her paired sabres, fought a few passes and then wheeled her horse back towards her own lines.

Taking her for spent, Nezha drove the wheels after her; Deng Chanyu turned suddenly, took a five-light stone from her brocade bag and threw, and its five-coloured flash struck Nezha full in the face.

He swayed on the wheels and had to cover his face and withdraw, and Deng Chanyu sounded the gong and took her troops back. When Deng Jiugong and his daughter afterwards went over to Zhou, Deng Chanyu and Nezha took their orders in Jiang Ziya’s tent together, and when they met again before a pass the two stood under the same Zhou banner.
