Jiang Ziya and Shen Gongbao

Jiang Ziya left Yuxu Palace at Yuanshi Tianzun’s order and went east with the Investiture List in his robe. Below Qilin Cliff, Shen Gongbao came up and barred the road, urging him to keep faith with Shang instead, and saying that he could cut off his own head, let it fly a thousand li and set it back on his neck.

Jiang Ziya would not change his mind, and Nanji Xianweng quietly told the white crane boy to carry the flying head away, so that only after Shen Gongbao had begged hard did he get his life back. From then the two went separate ways: Jiang Ziya took the seal of command at Western Qi, while Shen Gongbao rode his black tiger through every mountain, stopping the Ten Heavenly Lords, Zhao Gongming, the Three Xiao and others with the words “fellow Daoist, one moment please”.

The immortals he moved walked into the Shang camp in batches and died outside Western Qi in batches. After the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation scattered, Shen Gongbao was taken to fill the eye of the northern sea; Jiang Ziya climbed the investiture terrace and read out the divine offices name by name from the roll.
