Huang Feihu and Huang Tianhua

Huang Tianhua was three years old and playing in the garden of the household when Qingxu Daode Zhenjun, seeing that he had an affinity with the Investiture war, carried him off to Mount Qingfeng to cultivate. Huang Feihu did not know whether his eldest son lived or died from then until, breaking out of Chaoge and surrounded by pursuers on the pass road, he saw a young adept come charging down the hillside on a jade qilin.

Huang Tianhua drove back the Shang officers with the Moye Sword and the Heart-Piercing Nails, acknowledged his father before the lines, and escorted the whole household west. At Western Qi, Huang Feihu commanded the Zhou army while Huang Tianhua came down the mountain again and again at his master’s order, sometimes taking orders together in the centre and sometimes holding separate camps. When the Zhou army reached Jinji Ridge, Huang Tianhua went out against Gao Jineng, was hurt by the centipede-wasp bag and then run through by a spear.

Huang Feihu marched on east with the army, fell into Zhang Kui’s earth-travelling ambush at Mianchi, and died outside that city. Father and son afterwards appeared together on the Investiture List.
