Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie

When the pilgrims reached Gao Village, Sun Wukong took the shape of Gao Cuilan and sat in her room waiting for Zhu Ganglie to push the door open that night. He showed his own form and chased him to the Cloud Ladder Cave, and the Nine-Toothed Rake and the golden staff fought from the second watch to dawn; only when Zhu Ganglie heard that they were escorting Tang Sanzang did he throw down his weapon and take him as master, ranking after Wukong.

At White Tiger Ridge, Bajie several times called the false corpses the White Bone Demon left ordinary people, and so Tang Sanzang wrote the letter of dismissal and drove Wukong away.

When the Yellow Robe Monster turned Tang Sanzang into a tiger and Bajie could not save him, he had to cross the hills to Mount Huaguo for help; Wukong refused to come, and Bajie claimed that the monster had insulted the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, which brought him out of the cave on his cloud. The two returned to Baoxiang and beat the Yellow Robe Monster, and later closed on Niu Mowang together at the Flaming Mountains, and did not stop travelling west until they were invested at Vulture Peak.
