In short
The whips Wen Zhong carried on his black qilin, and still the emblem of his image as a god of the thunder department.

The story

When Wen Zhong rode his black qilin against Western Qi he carried a divine whip in each hand. The male and the female whips alternated between attack and defence as they swung, and met Jiang Ziya, Huang Tianhua and other Zhou officers head-on.

Beaten at Jueleng Ridge, Wen Zhong still charged the fire pillars with the whips and died among them. At the investiture terrace he was made the Heavenly Venerable of the Nine Heavens Who Universally Transforms with the Voice of Thunder, and the whips stayed in the hands of his image in the thunder department.
