In short
Forged by Taishang Laojun from divine ice-iron and granted to Marshal Tianpeng; Bajie fights with nothing else on the road west.

The story

Taishang Laojun forged the Nine-Toothed Rake from divine ice-iron, and the Jade Emperor gave it to the Marshal of the Heavenly Reeds who commanded the water forces of the Heavenly River. When the marshal was banished below, the rake fell into the mortal world with him.

Once Zhu Bajie had joined the pilgrimage he took the rake from his shoulder whenever a monster blocked the road. When the yellow lion spirit of Yuhua stole the three weapons, Bajie slipped into the cave, recognised his rake and took it back on the spot to fight with it.
