Jinling Shengmu

Jinling Shengmu entered Tongtian Jiaozhu’s gate and lived at the Biyou Palace on Jin’ao Island. She later took Wen Zhong as her disciple, and he cultivated in the palace for years before being sent down to serve the house of Shang.

After Huoling Shengmu was killed by Guangchengzi, Guangchengzi came three times to the Biyou Palace with the golden coronet she had left behind. Jinling Shengmu, Guiling Shengmu and the other disciples were all in the palace, and the return of the coronet set the Jie immortals in an uproar.

After the Zhuxian Formation was broken, Tongtian Jiaozhu gathered the Jie disciples again and set out the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation before Jiepai Pass. Jinling Shengmu took her seat on the seven-fragrance carriage and went in among the banners to the depths of the array.

Laozi, Yuanshi and the two saints of the West each brought their people in, and treasures and weapons struck against one another throughout the formation. Princess Longji rode up to Jinling Shengmu, and Jinling Shengmu raised the Four-Symbol Pagoda at once.

The pagoda came down from above and knocked Princess Longji from her horse, and she died in the formation. Seeing his wife killed, Hong Jin whipped his horse forward to fight on, and Jinling Shengmu raised the Dragon-Tiger Ruyi.

The ruyi struck Hong Jin and he too died before the lines. Husband and wife left the field together, their souls going to the investiture terrace.

Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun, Puxian Zhenren and Cihang Daoren closed on her at once, each with his weapon and treasure, and surrounded her. Jinling Shengmu fought all three alone, back and forth through the broken ranks.

Randeng Daoren came from outside the formation on his deer, saw the four of them still fighting, and raised the Sea-Stilling Pearls from the side. The pearls came down behind Jinling Shengmu and struck her to the ground.

After her death her soul too left the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation for the investiture terrace. The seven-fragrance carriage and the other Jie treasures were scattered across the field, and the formation went on breaking up from within.

When Jiang Ziya later opened the roll and invested the gods, he installed Jinling Shengmu as the true god Doumu of the Kan palace, with charge of the Dipper department. The Five Dipper stars, the nine luminaries and the twenty-eight lodges all came under her, and Wen Zhong too entered the thunder department at the investiture.
