What this rung means

A Golden Immortal has completed a fairly stable immortal body and primordial spirit and can travel the three realms for long periods away from his own seat. Against an ordinary demon formation, a heavenly general or a school disciple at this level can usually enter, break the gate and bring his people out alone.

Zhu Bajie with the Nine-Toothed Rake, Sha Seng with the Demon-Quelling Staff and Li Jing commanding armies with the pagoda are usually placed near Golden Immortal by the Honghuang mapping. Each has an office and a treasure of his own, and each can also be trapped by a stronger demon king.

At this level one can refine elixirs, work instruments, produce a double or travel by escape-arts, and can take ordinary thunder, fire and blades. Struck by a great treasure such as the Hunyuan Golden Dipper or the Sea-Stilling Pearls, the cultivation of the crown can still be stripped or sealed.

Golden Immortals who go on gathering the three flowers and five breaths and penetrating deeper laws move towards Taiyi Golden Immortal; in a great calamity they mostly enter the field as divine generals, school disciples or the master of a cave.
