Taiyi Golden Immortal

Taiyi Golden Immortals are usually found among the personal disciples of the great schools, the chief generals of the Heavenly Court and the strongest demon kings. They have their own seats, can take disciples and hand down teaching, and can enter a calamity with one or several great treasures.

Nezha charging with several treasures in his lotus body, Taiyi Zhenren refining elixirs and teaching at Qianyuan Mountain, and Niu Mowang showing his white bull form and fighting Wukong for a long while are all placed between Taiyi and Da Luo.

They can handle several lower immortals at once on the field, and their transformations, escape-arts and body-shielding methods are joined into one. Against an equal, the decision usually turns on inherited treasures, on formations and on what each can improvise.

A Taiyi adept who draws his attainment further out of birth-and-death and the order of time is said in the Honghuang stories to have entered Da Luo; one whose work is not yet sufficient may still lose his body to the Investiture List and the force of the wheel of rebirth.
